Permanent project

Atelier

A space for investigation, experimentation and creation, inspired by the Reggio Emilia approach.

About the project

Inspired by the Reggio Emilia approach, our Atelier is a space for investigation, experimentation and creation. Here children are invited to explore different materials, colours, shapes, sounds, movements and elements of nature.

More than learning techniques, they have the chance to imagine, research, create and express their ideas and discoveries, as protagonists of their own learning.

Child painting in the atelier

In the Atelier, we believe every material can spark a discovery and every creation can reveal a unique way of understanding the world.

Aim

To build a complementary link between the atelier and the classroom, making possible work that is meaningful for adults and children alike, by connecting experiences, ideas and materials to the culture of the school and of the community as a whole.

How the journeys unfold

In our Atelier, every journey begins with a curious look, a question, a discovery.

Children investigate, experiment, create and give shape to their thoughts through many languages. Colours, marks, clay, light, shadows, elements of nature and different materials become pathways to imagine, research and learn.

In small groups, each child finds time and space to think, experiment and express themselves. The educator observes, listens and accompanies, without giving answers in advance.

Here, we are not only looking for the result. We value the journey, the questions, the attempts, the discoveries and the marks each child leaves along the way.

Because in the Atelier, creating is also a way of thinking, investigating and getting to know the world.
