Permanent project

Vegetable Garden Project

The vegetable garden is a living space of discovery.

About the project

The vegetable garden is a living space of discovery. Here children can touch the soil, observe seeds, watch plants sprout, notice changes, form hypotheses and understand that nature has its own timing.

Inspired by Participatory Pedagogies, this project sees the child as protagonist and researcher. The garden is therefore not just a place for planting, but a real context for investigation, where children can observe, ask, compare, measure, draw, count, take care and record their discoveries through different languages.

Aim

To offer experiences of care and investigation through the vegetable garden, strengthening the relationship with nature and encouraging healthy eating habits.

How the project works

The Garden Project is participatory, involving the children from planning to harvest. They help choose what to plant, prepare the soil, lay out the beds, sow the seeds and look after the garden, such as watering and following how the plants grow.

Along the way, children are encouraged to observe, investigate, form hypotheses, compare and record the changes happening in the garden, understanding what plants need and the cycles of nature. At the end they take part in the harvest and in valuing the food produced, strengthening learning about nature, healthy eating, cooperation, responsibility and care for the environment.
